What a year!!
I am truly, truly blessed to be doing something I love. This is my *dream* job. I never thought it would be possible to have your hobby as your full time job, and each day I am so thankful and so happy that it is. Pure joy. Each wedding is truly such an honour. To be in a position of trust with couples to be responsible for capturing their memories of the most important day of their life is… well, it’s a big deal. A big deal that I don’t take for granted. It still baffles me that whenever I can say to a bride ‘where is your wedding dress?’ they will tell me where it is and tell me to ‘work away’. The dress that has had so much hype about for the year or so ago when it was purchased, the one that the groom has no idea about.. I get to be one of the first to see it. Then to be one of the few in the room while the final touches are being done, to then see dad’s reaction to his wee girl all ready to get married, to then be standing feet away from the groom as he sets eyes on his bride walk down the aisle.. it all blows my mind. it’s seriously precious moments that i’m included in, and it amazes me.
This year I am 100% confident in my approach, my focus and my style. My focus? I want you to enjoy your wedding, and I want to document you enjoying it. I don’t want to take you on a photoshoot all day. (Don’t get me wrong, I had a couple of intimate weddings this year when we went off for portraits for over an hour and it was *AWESOME*!) If you’ve invited 100+ guests to your wedding, then those people are pretty important and you’ll want to hang out with them on your special day. That’s so important. And for the time that we do spend together just the 3 of us, I want to capture you laughing. I might say something a little bit cheeky, or I might encourage you both to chat about something about each other that will make you giggle. I just think on the happiest day of your life, you should have pictures of you looking your happiest. Pure joy. If we can go to an epic location or do something cool at night, that’s awesome too ツ
So here’s my 2014. Here’s the pure joy, and all the wee pretty bits in between:
I just want to say a massive thank you to all my couples for believing in me, and for allowing me to take part in your special day. It honestly means the world to me. Also thanks to my awesome community of photographer pals for making me giggle and inspiring me more than you’ll ever know.
oh! and my calendar for 2016 is now well and truly open ツ
